Warning of stern action against noise polluters

Considering the issue of pollution caused by loudspeakers and loudspeakers during public festivals and festivities, Thane Municipal Corporation has declared 26 places in the city as Silence Zones. Peace zones in Thane, Kalwa, Mumbra and Diva were declared on Thursday evening. Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal has warned to take strict legal action against those who exceed the noise limit in this area.

The pollution control report of Thane Municipal Corporation has concluded that the level of pollution in the major squares of the city has reached dangerous level. During the festive season, there is an experience of thirteen sound level rules. Festivals like Ganeshotsav, Navratrotsav, Dahihandi are celebrated with great enthusiasm in Thane city. Environmentalists have repeatedly complained that the rules set by the court for organizing the festival are not being enforced. Especially during Dahihandi festival, these rules are violated at the crossroads. There are complaints from the police that only nominal crimes are being registered. Meanwhile, the municipal administration has included 26 places in the city in the list of peace zones before the start of the festive season this year. This includes hospitals, schools, colleges, residential complexes in Thane. A peace zone of 100 meters has been fixed around these places. The State Government has the right to classify industrial, commercial, residential and peace zones for the purpose of sound standards for various sectors. Accordingly, the state government has directed to notify the peace zone in the municipal area. NMC said that this decision was taken in accordance with Rule 3 (2) of the main rules regarding noise pollution 2000. Citizens should follow the sound level in all these places, an appeal has been made on behalf of Thane Municipal Corporation.

Only one area in Naupada

A quiet area has been set up in the Naupada area, which is the main traffic and densely populated area of ​​the city. In the same area, some political parties start chanting loudly during the Dahihandi festival. Apart from this, no peace zone has been declared in the corner area which is considered sensitive for noise pollution. The recently released pollution report of the Municipal Corporation had mentioned that the noise pollution in the corner area had reached its peak.
