350 accidental deaths on Mumbai-Goa highway in two and a half years

Mumbai: Despite the state government’s efforts to reduce road accidents, the number of accidents and cheaters seems to be on the rise. Compared to January-August 2020, the number of cheaters has increased by 1875 in eight months of this year, according to the Highway Traffic Police. More than 350 passengers have lost their lives on the Mumbai-Goa highway in the last two and a half years.

According to the Highway Police, a total of 14,877 accidents took place between January and August 2020. During the same period, 6,865 people were killed in 6,364 fatal accidents. 8499 were injured in 5398 serious accidents. In the last eight months, a total of 18,790 accidents have taken place and 8,740 people have been killed in 8,097 fatal accidents. It was informed that 10 thousand 63 people were injured in 6838 serious accidents.

Accident session maintained

A total of 1173 vehicle accidents have taken place on Mumbai-Goa highway in 2019, 2020 and January to August 2021. It has killed 357 people in 329 fatal accidents. 916 people were injured in 354 serious accidents. From January to August 2021, there were 1306 road accidents in Mumbai and 175 people died in 170 fatal accidents. Out of a total of 508 accidents in Thane city, 124 fatal accidents took place in which 130 people were killed.

Pits also cause

A total of 242 accidents were reported due to potholes in the state in 2019 and 2020. 111 people died in it. The death toll was 72 in 2019 and 39 in 2020, while 80 people were injured in these two years. Even in 2021, accidents are still happening due to potholes.
