85 lakh lasmatra on Saturday

A new vaccination record was set on Friday, the 71st birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More than 2.5 crore vaccines were distributed across the country, according to the Union Health Ministry. As many as 85 lakh vaccines were distributed across the country till 11 pm on Saturday.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandvi tweeted that Friday’s vaccination record was a golden chapter in world history. Due to one day record vaccination, the country crossed the milestone of 79.33 crore vaccines till 12 midnight on Friday. On Friday, 17 lakh vaccines were given per hour, 28,000 per minute and 466 vaccines per second, the central government said.

The highest number of vaccines were given in Karnataka on Friday with over 26 lakh nine thousand, followed by Bihar with over 26 lakh six thousand, Uttar Pradesh with over 24 lakh, Madhya Pradesh with over 23 lakh and Gujarat with over 20 lakh.

Friday record

India has set a world record in vaccination, said Amitabh Kant, chief executive officer of the policy commission. It was also claimed that India had overtaken Europe in overall vaccination.
