On the occasion of the birth anniversary of late Shiv Sena leader Anand Dighe, the car used by him has been repaired and revived from today. District Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde himself visited Anand Math near Jambhali Naka and inspected the vehicle. Shiv Sena is celebrating Anand Dighe’s birthday on a large scale in Thane today. Anand Dighe’s car is becoming a special topic of discussion in this year’s Jayanti. Meanwhile, Girish Shilotri, the driver of Anand Dighe’s car, shared an interesting story with the media while reminiscing about the car.
Shilotri said that Anand Dighe was using the same vehicle to travel to different branches of Shiv Sena in the city. At that time Thane district was one. The Dahanu Lok Sabha constituency was spread as far as Igatpuri. Anand Dighe used to pull the entire district out of this vehicle at that time, said Shilotri. Also, while passing by this vehicle, he was attacked by some goons of the notorious Don Dawood Ibrahim from Mumbai underworld. Shilotri also told the story of how Anand Dighe survived the attack with the help of this vehicle.
“In 1998, we had withdrawn the vehicle. Saheb passed away in 2001 (Anand Dighe). He drove the entire district out of the vehicle. At that time Thane district was one. Dahanu Lok Sabha was up to Igatpuri, ”said Shilotri. “We were going to Mira Road for a puja. The people of Dawood Gang had followed us. Finally Nilaja had to drive me to the Mira Road police station. I saved Saheb’s life, “said Shilotri. This Armada type vehicle was very supportive of Saheb, in such words Shilotri expressed his feelings. On August 26, 2001, while traveling in the same vehicle, Anand Dighe had a tragic accident on the road in front of Vandana Talkies in Thane. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The same vehicle of Anand Dighe has now been repaired and rebuilt. Eknath Shinde also inspected the vehicle. Abhishek Chavan, Vinayak Nar, Yogesh Bansode have revived this car.
