Mumbai: Public Works (Public Works) Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday announced that all necessary precautions have been taken to avoid inconvenience to Ganesha devotees going to Konkan for Ganeshotsav. Shinde has also instructed to make stickers available to the vehicles of Ganesh devotees immediately for this road tax concession.
During the Ganeshotsav period, Shinde reviewed the provision of necessary facilities for the devotees going to Konkan. To facilitate the journey of devotees, Panvel, Pen, Mahad Road, Satara, Bhuinj, Shendre as well as Karad-Patan Chiplun Highway to Konkan, Mumbai-Goa Highway, Wakan-Pali-Khopoli Road, Vagde-Kudal Road in Sindhudurg, Ambenli Ghat, Tamhini Ghat, Shinde ordered to complete the remaining work on the Ratnagiri-Savarde road in two days.
Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Minister of State for Home (Rural) Shambhuraj Desai, Principal Secretary Urban Development Bhushan Gagrani, State Road Development Corporation Vice President Radheshyam Mopalwar, Additional Director General of Police (Highway Transport) Dr. Bhushan Kumar Upadhyay, Secretary, Public Works Department, Debadwar etc. were present.
Traffic congestion will be reduced if more manpower is deployed at the toll plazas on Mumbai-Pune, Pune-Satara, Mumbai-Goa highways and separate lanes for Ganesha devotees’ vehicles. He also instructed the Public Works Department, Road Development Corporation and National Highways Authority to pay special attention to ensure that devotees are not inconvenienced at the toll plazas.
