Mumbai: Actress Kangana Ranaut was warned by an Andheri court on Tuesday that she would be issued an arrest warrant if she failed to appear for the next hearing in a defamation suit filed by lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Kangana had been busy shooting for the past two weeks when the case was heard on Tuesday. In addition, she has symptoms of coronary heart disease. Kangana was asked by the court to allow her to be absent from Tuesday’s hearing so that she could be tried. If Kangana’s test report is positive, he will once again be allowed to be absent from the hearing. Kangana also claimed that her medical report would be submitted at that time.
But Kangana’s demand was opposed by Akhtar. Also, Kangana has not attended any hearing so far. On the contrary, we are attending every hearing. Therefore, Akhtar demanded that an arrest warrant be issued against the company which was constantly absent. Akhtar’s counsel pointed out that the High Court had also dismissed Kangana’s plea challenging the proceedings in the case. The court granted Kangana’s request to be absent from Tuesday’s hearing. At the same time, the court warned that an arrest warrant would be issued against Kangana if she was absent at the next hearing.
