‘Courts should not be used for political battles’

Mumbai: A suspended Regional Transport Officer in Nashik has filed a petition accusing state Transport Minister Anil Parab and several other senior officials of the transport department of corruption and malpractice and demanded an independent inquiry into the matter. However, the court refused to hear the petition immediately, saying the courts should not be used for political battles. Gajendra Patil has filed the petition alleging massive corruption in appointments and transfers by senior officials. The court was told during the hearing on Wednesday that Patil had been suspended for leaking allegations of corruption in the RTO. An immediate hearing was also sought on the petition. Justice S. S. Shinde and Justice N. J. The bench, however, said there was no need for an urgent hearing on the petition.
