Dangerous forms of dengue have been reported in 11 states of the country. The Center has directed the 11 states to start early detection of dengue cases, start a fever helpline and stock up on adequate testing kits, mosquito repellents and medicines for treatment. Corona instructed the states to avoid crowds and rallies on the backdrop of festivals in the coming period at a high-level review meeting of the situation.
During the meeting, the dengue-affected states were asked to deploy a rapid response team to promptly investigate the rising incidence of serotype-2 dengue. States have also been urged to launch campaigns on helpline, vector control methods, keeping mosquito breeding grounds in the house clean and other symptoms of dengue. Serotype-2 dengue has been reported in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan directed the 15 states with high positivity rates to take necessary precautions and implement them effectively. The situation in 70 districts in these 15 states is worrisome with a positivity rate of more than 5 per cent. In 34 districts, the rate is more than 10 per cent, Bhushan said.
States were instructed to take all necessary precautions and effective implementation to avoid crowds ahead of the upcoming festive season. Also in many countries the number of corona patients has suddenly increased after a complete decline. Referring to it, state health administrators have been advised to stockpile health infrastructure and essential medicines.
