Dhoni to make suggestions for ‘Rashtriya Chhatra Sena’

The Department of Defense has set up a high-level committee to suggest measures to improve the quality of the ‘National Student Army’ (NCC) and to use this youth force for nation building. The 14-member committee is headed by former MP Baijayant Panda. Former cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has also been included in the committee. The committee also includes Mahindra Group president Anand Mahindra, BJP MP Vinay Sahastrabuddhe and Dalit Indian Chambers of Commerce president Milind Kamble.

More than 10 lakh students of Rashtriya Chhatra Sena are undergoing training at two levels in the country, namely junior (school level) and senior (college). Students of Rashtriya Chhatra Sena are made aware of their social and civic duties through various programs and activities. At the same time, military training is introduced at various levels to encourage students to join the army in the future.

The committee will suggest measures to include in the Chhatrasena curriculum a program that is useful for the youth at the international level. The committee will also suggest the cooperation of alumni of Chhatra Sena to uplift the status of Rashtriya Chhatra Sena. However, the Defense Forces did not specify the duration of the committee’s tenure.
