Five drowned during Ganpati immersion in Mumbai, two rescued

It is coming to light that five children drowned in the sea during Ganesh immersion in Mumbai. Five people who went into the sea to immerse the idol of Lord Ganesha at Versova jetty on Sunday (September 19) have drowned. Of those, two children have been rescued, while three are still missing. The Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed about this on Sunday.

Two of the five people who drowned at sea were rescued by locals and taken to Cooper Hospital. The Mumbai Fire Brigade is searching for the remaining three. The rescue operation is underway, BMC said. BMC tweeted about it on Sunday. After this incident, it is being said that the immersion of Ganesha in Mumbai has been disrupted.

“This was not a place for immersion. We had banned people from immersing Ganesha idols here. However, many people still came here, ”said Manoj Waman Pohanekar, a police officer from Versova police station. “The search operation has been carried out with the help of naval divers and police boats,” the chief fire officer of the Mumbai Fire Department said in an official statement.
