Gurmeet Singh sworn in as Governor of Uttarakhand

Dehradun: Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmeet Singh was on Wednesday sworn in as the Governor of Uttarakhand. In a simple ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court R.S. Chauhan administered the oath of office to Singh.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, his cabinet colleagues, Uttarakhand Assembly Speaker Premchand Agarwal, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar and Chief Secretary S.S. Several senior government officials, including Sandhu, were present on the occasion. L.J. Singh replaces Baby Rani Maurya. Maurya had resigned three years before the end of his term.

Singh, who retired as the Deputy Chief of the Indian Army, had won several medals in the military. He is considered an expert on Indo-China affairs.
