Indian Army helicopter crashes in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir; Two pilots injured

An Indian Army helicopter has crashed in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident took place in Shivgarh Dhar area and it is learned that there were two persons in the helicopter. Heavy fog in the Udhampur area has reduced visibility in the area, which may have led to an accident, police said. Police have reached the spot as soon as they got information about the incident.

Udhampur Deputy Inspector General of Police Suleman Chaudhary said police were informed of the helicopter crash and squads were dispatched to the spot in Shivgad Dhar. Visibility is reduced due to high fog in the area, he said. Rescue teams reached the spot and rescued the two injured soldiers.

Bad weather caused an army helicopter to crash. It is not yet clear if the helicopter crashed or the pilot crashed. Both the pilot and co-pilot were injured.

Meanwhile, on August 3, an Indian Army helicopter crashed near the Ranjit Sagar Dam in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. Helicopter of 254 Army Aviation Squadron took off from Mamun Cantt at 10:20 am and crashed while taking off from Ranjit Sagar Dam area.
