India’s counterattack: A clear answer to Turkey on the Kashmir issue

In the last few years, Pakistan’s relations with Saudi Arabia have weakened on the one hand, and improved with Turkey on the other.

Supporting Pakistan on the Kashmir issue has once again cost Turkey dearly. India has responded to Turkey’s statement regarding Kashmir. Kashmir was mentioned by Turkey in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar replied. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan raised the issue of Kashmir in his speech at the UN meeting, shortly after which Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar tweeted in response and surrounded Turkey over the Cyprus issue. Turkey is often trying to stay away from the Cyprus problem.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar held a bilateral meeting with his Cypriot Nikos Cristodolides, in which he stressed the need to abide by UN Security Council resolutions regarding Cyprus. Jaishankar tweeted about his meeting with Christodolides on Wednesday.

“We are working to move economic ties forward. I admired their regional insights. “Everyone should abide by the UN Security Council resolutions on Cyprus,” Jaishankar said.

Jaishankar tweeted just hours after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan mentioned Kashmir while addressing the UN General Assembly. In such a scenario, India is said to have retaliated when Turkey mentioned Kashmir. “We believe that the 74-year-old Kashmir issue should be resolved through dialogue and UN resolutions,” Erdogan said in a speech to the General Assembly on Tuesday. Even last year, Erdogan mentioned Jammu and Kashmir. India had at the time slammed Erdogan and warned him not to interfere in India’s internal affairs.

What is the Cyprus dispute?

The long-running conflict in Cyprus began in 1974 with a military coup backed by the Greek government. Turkey then invaded northern Greece. Cyprus is illegally occupied by Turkey. India has called for a peaceful resolution of the issue in accordance with UN resolutions.

Turkey has often expressed its views on a number of issues, including Kashmir. Saudi Arabia has taken a neutral stance on these issues, but Turkey has been presenting the Kashmir issue for the past few years in the name of Muslims. In the last few years, Pakistan’s relations with Saudi Arabia have weakened on the one hand, and improved with Turkey on the other. That is why Turkey is often seen commenting on the Kashmir issue.
