Minister’s inquiry from CBI

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday questioned West Bengal Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee over his alleged involvement in the i-core investment scheme scam.

Chatterjee, the Trinamool Congress general secretary, was questioned by a three-member CBI team at his office on Camac Street. ‘I told them everything I wanted to say. I hope he is satisfied with my answers, “Chatterjee told reporters after the inquiry.

Chatterjee had allegedly attended some public events organized by i-Core, which has been accused of defrauding investors by offering lucrative returns on investment.

Like Sharda and Rose Valley chit fund companies, i-Core raised money through a number of fraudulent schemes.

The CBI’s Financial Crimes Branch had on September 13 asked Chatterjee to appear before his officers at his office in the CGO complex. However, Chatterjee had requested that his inquiry be conducted in his office, saying that he was busy with other work.

Earlier, the Directorate of Recovery (ED) had also issued notices to the ministers in the same investment scam.
