Threats were received twice in 12 days

The vehicle of the mayor of Nagpur, the state’s vice-capital, was fired upon by unknown persons at midnight on Tuesday. Fortunately, Mayor Sandeep Joshi survived the attack. No one in the vehicle was injured. The assailants fled the scene after the attack. It has also come to light that Mayor Sandeep Joshi has been receiving threats for the last 12 days. Police are searching for the attackers.

The attack took place near Empress Palace Hall on Wardha Road in Nagpur city. Mayor Sandeep Joshi had gone out for a family function. On his way back, the assailants chased his vehicle and fired three shots at his vehicle.

The assailants had come on a two-wheeler with the rear of the vehicle. I was driving myself. One bullet hit the glass on the side of my seat, another on the middle seat and a third on the rear. After that my vehicle went to the side of the road, so we all survived. Fortunately, no one was injured. I received the first threat on December 6 and the second on December 12. Therefore, it is suspected that the attackers may be on the trail. Nagpur police are sure to find the attackers, Mayor Sandeep Joshi told the media.
