New Delhi: At the request of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, the Directorate of Recovery (ED) has asked her to be present till the end of July for questioning. The probe is into allegations of financial misconduct related to the National Herald newspaper. He has been asked to state his case before the ED on a July date. This information was given by the concerned officials on Thursday.

Due to ill health, Sonia had sought an extension from the ED to appear for questioning. He was to be present on June 23. The ED suspended him and allowed him to be present at the end of July. The ED had earlier on June 8 asked for an inquiry. However, he was asked to appear on June 23 due to coronary heart disease. However, after corona and some subsequent treatment, he was released from the hospital on Monday. However, after being advised by medical experts to rest for a few days, Sonia had approached the ED for an extension.
