Mumbai Municipal Corporation has succeeded in “Dharavi Model” in preventing corona. The book “The Dharavi Model” was published today (Tuesday) by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Mumbai Suburban District Guardian Minister and Tourism, Environment and Etiquette Minister Aditya Thackeray was present on the occasion. The author of this book is Kiran Dighavkar, Assistant Commissioner, Mumbai Municipal Corporation. On the occasion of this publication which took place at Varsha Niwas, along with the writer Dighavkar, the Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation, I.P. S. Chahal, Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani were present.
In this book, author Dighavkar outlines the measures taken by the municipal administration to prevent Kovid-19 virus infection in Dharavi. These measures have been praised globally. The Dharavi model has been praised by the central government, the World Bank, the World Health Organization and abroad. As a Dharavi model, this approach is being followed even in such densely populated slums in other countries. Even in the first and second wave of Kovid, the Dharavi model has proved that it is a coin toss.
This is a collection in book form of Dighavkar’s experiences and memories while managing Kovid in Dharavi. This book in English will soon be available in Marathi and other languages in translated form. The book is also available in e-book format. This will make it possible for readers from all over the world to get to know the Dharavi model in detail.
