The district received light to moderate rains on Saturday night. This has given some support to the discarded kharif crops. The problem of water scarcity has remained in the district as the rains have not benefited any of the dry water reservoirs. Farmers expect more rains to save kharif crops.
The district received light to moderate rains on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Osmanabad, Tuljapur and Umarga talukas received good rainfall. It had not rained in other talukas. On Saturday, however, it rained more or less in all the talukas. Seeing the cloudy sky, the farmers were expecting heavy rains. But the wind caused heavy rains to fall. It has been 15-20 days since the sowing of kharif. Although the rains in the last two days after sowing have given some support to the kharif crop, more rains are required for the crop to thrive. The rains on Saturday night showed that the fields were flooded. Also, the farmers have got some satisfaction that the problem of water for animals has been solved in four days due to filling of ditches in Odhaya-Nala. However, the rains have not benefited any of the reservoirs. As a result, water scarcity persists.
