Sangram Thopte, Dilip Mohite crorepatis with MLA Sharad Sonawane who went to Shiv Sena from MNS!

The income tax statement also has to be given in this affidavit

Sharad Sonawane, who became the only MLA from MNS in 2014, has formed Shivbandhan a few months back. Sharad Sonawane has filed an application from Junnar. Bhor’s Congress MLA Sangram Thopte and Khed Alandi’s former NCP MLA Dilip Mohite have filed nomination papers for the Assembly elections. Their affidavits show that these three MLAs are crorepatis.

An affidavit of assets has to be submitted along with the application while filing the candidature application. Accordingly, Bhor MLA Thopte has assets worth Rs 12 crore 60 lakh. This includes assets such as cash, deposits, shares, National Savings Scheme, gold, land, etc. Junnar’s MLA Sonawane is also a millionaire. Sonawane was an MLA of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. He has joined Shiv Sena from MNS. His assets are worth Rs 3.45 crore.

The affidavit states that Mohite, a former NCP MLA from Khel Alandi, has assets worth Rs 9 crore 62 lakh. Candidates contesting elections are required to provide information about their assets as well as property details in the name of family members to the Election Commission on affidavit. It is also mandatory to provide details of foreign investments in the name of family members and arrears with banks.

The affidavit also has to give the details of income tax for the last five years. Accordingly, these three candidates have submitted this information. Candidates have to inform the voters about the offenses filed against them in the affidavit to understand whether or not the candidate has a criminal background. The Election Commission has already ordered the removal of placards filed against candidates outside polling stations. Therefore, the character of the candidate will be known to the voters.

After the announcement of the Assembly elections, the names of candidates from each party are being announced. Two lists of Congress, NCP and BJP have been published. It is noteworthy that Eknath Khadse, an unnamed party leader in both the BJP factions, had filed his nomination papers before the first list was released.
