Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa the new Chief Minister of Punjab ?; Awaiting the decision of the Congress High Command; Meeting with Rahul Gandhi

The Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee has sealed the name of Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa as the next Chief Minister of the state. The Congress High Command is expected to take a final decision in this regard soon. Also, Aruna Chaudhary and Bharat Bhushan Ashu will be the next Deputy Chief Ministers of Punjab. Sources said that Aruna Chaudhary will represent the Dalit community. Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi and Ambika Soni are reportedly discussing the appointment of Congress leaders in the Assembly and the Chief Minister of Punjab. Sources said that Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had sought time to meet Governor Banwarilal Purohit.

Amarinder Singh resigns

Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday resigned as Punjab chief minister, citing party leaders as having doubts about his performance. After that, while interacting with the media, he called Congress president Sonia Gandhi and claimed that he had apologized to her. It has now come to light that Singh had written a letter to Gandhi before resigning.

In a letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi yesterday, just hours before resigning as Punjab chief minister, Amarinder Singh expressed his sadness over the political developments in the last five months. In the letter, Singh said that he was resigning due to Navjot Singh Sidhu’s bitter attack. At the same time, Singh emphasized that the political situation in the state was not based on the problems of Punjab and the needs of the state.
