Testing of a long-range missile from North Korea

North Korea claims to have tested a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile, a newly developed missile. The test comes days after North Korea claimed to have boosted its military capabilities. According to defense experts, this could be North Korea’s first nuclear-armed missile.

Scenes from this launch were shown. It included a moving missile carrier. Korea’s Central News Agency said the missile had been under construction for the past two years. It has a range of 1,500 km and has been successfully tested on Saturday and Sunday.

North Korea says its leader, Kim Jong Un, has ordered an increase in military capabilities, and the test has added to that effort. North Korea has conducted the test while the United States is currently in nuclear talks with North Korea.

South Korean officials say U.S. and South Korean spies are investigating the incident. “We are keeping a close eye on North Korea’s actions, which are developing military programs that pose a threat to the United States and its allies,” the Indo-Pacific Command said. Kim had called for an increase in nuclear capabilities at the ruling party’s convention in January, as well as efforts to build state-of-the-art missiles.
