The Department of Health’s efforts to vaccinate students; Vaccination session will be resumed at school level Health department efforts vaccinate students school managers District Health Department amy 95

Thane: While the prevalence of corona is increasing, on the other hand, schools have been started everywhere from today. Precautionary measures are also being taken by school managers against the backdrop of increasing number of patients. The health department has also started efforts to complete the vaccination of school beneficiary students. For this, the health department will start the vaccination session again at the school level after discussing with the school managers, informed the district health department.

Vaccination of children between the ages of 15 to 17 and 12 to 14 years was started along with those under 18 years of age to prevent coronary heart disease. Vaccination campaigns for 15 to 17 year olds and 12 to 14 year olds were launched in March. Vaccination sessions for children in the age group of 15 to 17 years were conducted in schools and colleges by the health department. Therefore, the students of this age group were getting good response from the beginning. However, the number of students in the age group of 12 to 14 years getting vaccinated was less as vaccination started in March, i.e. during the Ain examination period. So, many parents were found to be confused about vaccinating their children.

There are 4 lakh 96 thousand 915 beneficiary children in the age group of 15 to 17 years in the district. Out of which 3 lakh 5 thousand 88 students have taken the first dose of vaccine. So, 2 lakh 35 thousand 160 students have taken the second dose of vaccine. There is a population of 3 lakh 21 thousand 350 in the age group of 12 to 14 years. Out of them 1 lakh 41 thousand 12 people have taken the first dose of vaccine and 75 thousand 270 people have taken the second dose of vaccine. Therefore, it is seen that many people of this age group have not yet been vaccinated in the district. The number of Corona patients has been on the rise again in the last few days, while schools have been reopened from today and school administrators are taking appropriate precautions. It is also important for students to be vaccinated in such cases. The health department has started making efforts for this. It has been decided to re-implement the vaccination campaign at the school level so that the vaccination of school children can be completed as soon as possible. The District Health Department informed that after discussing with the school managers, the number of students left to be vaccinated will be decided and the vaccination session will be conducted in each school.

When schoolchildren were vaccinated, the corona outbreak had subsided, so many did not take the initiative to get vaccinated. So, some had confusion about getting vaccinated. This is why vaccination at this age group has not received much response. However, now the schools have started and the school level vaccination campaign will be implemented. So that the vaccination of the remaining students is completed. An appeal will also be made at the school level to create awareness among the students so that their fears about vaccines do not go away.-Dr. Anjali Chaudhary, Vaccination Officer, Thane District.
