The importance of vaccines is underlined again

The incidence of gluten in the infected is small; Still, following the rules is important

Mumbai: Out of about 25 lakh 39 thousand citizens of Mumbai city who have completed both doses of corona vaccine, 0.35 per cent of them have contracted corona, according to a study conducted by the Municipal Corporation. It has the highest number of senior citizens and the lowest number of patients in the age group of 18 to 44 years. This underscores the need to strictly adhere to the Corona Prevention Rules even if senior citizens complete both doses of the vaccine.

The study includes about 25 lakh 39 thousand citizens who have completed both the doses of vaccines. Of these, 9001 (0.35 per cent) citizens were affected by the corona. Although the incidence of obstruction after completion of both doses of vaccine is extremely low, the incidence of coronary heart disease in senior citizens is also high. Among senior citizens, 0.59 per cent of those who completed both doses of the vaccine were infected, followed by 0.26 per cent of those aged 18-44 and 0.24 per cent of those aged 45-59.

As many as 74 lakh 64 thousand 139 people have completed the first dose of vaccine in Mumbai till Tuesday and 31 lakh 32 thousand 274 people have completed the second dose.

The study is based on information from vaccinators since March. The incidence of vaccination among vaccinators is only 0.3 per cent. It is clear that vaccination is an effective means of protection against coronavirus. That is why vaccination in Mumbai is being expedited before the third wave, said Suresh Kakani, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation.

It has been almost eight months since senior citizens were vaccinated. Also, since the relaxation of restrictions, the number of people in this age group has increased. This also makes them more likely to be affected in this age group than others, said Kakani.

What in the study?

An analytical study of about 67 lakh 15 thousand vaccinated citizens in Mumbai has been done by KMC. Out of this, about 41 lakh 75 thousand citizens had taken the first dose of vaccine. Of those who took the first dose, 14,239, or 0.34 per cent, were affected by the corona. According to the age group, the highest incidence of 1.52 per cent is among citizens above 60 years of age. This is followed by 0.71 per cent in the age group of 45-49 and 0.13 per cent in the age group of 18-44.

Need care

Completion of both doses of vaccine does not guarantee complete safety. The immunity of senior citizens is basically low. This is why this age group is at higher risk of coronary heart disease. Therefore, they are more likely to be affected. Even if both doses of vaccine are completed, senior citizens should avoid crowds as much as possible. When it comes time to go out, the mask should be used properly and the sanitizer should be used, said Dr. Rahul Pandit said.
