The number of infected children in the state increased by four per cent in a month

Mumbai : The number of children affected by corona in the state has increased by four per cent in a month. During this period, 18 thousand 413 children above 11 years of age have been infected.

Till July, 2 lakh 18 thousand children under 10 years of age and 4 lakh 63 thousand children above 11 years of age were affected by Corona in the state. By the first week of September, however, the number of patients had increased significantly. As of September 6, 6,738 children under the age of 10 were newly infected with coronavirus, an increase of 3.36 per cent. It has been observed that the incidence of infection is higher in children above 11 years of age. In the first week of September, 18,413 children in this age group were found to be infected, an increase of four per cent.

So far 6 lakh 88 thousand 218 children under the age of 20 have been affected in the state. A total of 25,151 children have been newly infected with the corona in the past month.

3285 children infected during the week

Last week, 865 children over the age of 10 and 2,420 children over the age of 11 were infected. There are 2 crore 15 children under the age of 10 in the state and till now 2 lakh 06 thousand 756 of them have been infected with corona. As a result, only 0.96 per cent of the total children are infected.

2.23 per cent children above 11 years of age are affected

The number of children in the age group of 11 to 20 in the state is 2 crore 16 lakhs. So far 4 lakh 81 thousand 462 of them have been infected. The total incidence of this age group is 2.23 per cent. The proportion of infected children under the age of 10 is 3.18 per cent of the total number of patients, while the proportion of children above 11 years is 7.42 per cent. About 10 per cent of the total patients so far are children.

Three per cent increase in infections in Mumbai

Compared to the total number of patients in Mumbai, the incidence rate among children above 10 years of age is about two per cent and among children above 11 years it is 4.64 per cent. So far, 19 children over the age of 10 and 41 children over the age of 11 have died

In the first wave, 10 per cent of the total patients were infected. In the second wave, the proportion has increased by one per cent. Overall, the number of children infected is relatively low. However, vaccines are not currently available to protect these children. Therefore, these children are more likely to be infected in the future. Now that the restrictions have been relaxed, children are falling out of the house. They are also traveling with their parents. As a result, the number of patients will increase during the next festive season, said Dr. Expressed by Suhas Prabhu.

‘Parents should not be afraid’

Even if children are affected, 80% of them will be cured at home. Even if the number of patients increases, only 3 to 4 per cent of these children will be admitted to the hospital, while the severity of the infection will be higher in 1 to 2 per cent of the children. All facilities are also provided for the children. Therefore, parents should not be scared, said Dr. Said the Lord.

In children, fever, body aches, headache, sore throat, cold or stuffy nose, taste and smell, cough are the main symptoms.
