Three corrupt police officers suspended

Nagar: District Superintendent of Police Manoj Patil on Tuesday suspended three employees of the Shevgaon Deputy Superintendent of Police’s team for demanding a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a sand transporter. The three suspended employees are Vasant Kanhu Phulmali (Pathardi), Kailas Narayan Pawar (Pathardi) and Sandeep Vasant Chavan (Shevgaon).

Shevgaon Deputy Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Munde had set up a special squad to crack down on illegal businesses. It included employees of Pathardi and Shevgaon police stations. A few days ago, the squad caught the truck of the sand transporter. This transporter transports government licensed sand. The employees had demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 to release the seized truck and keep the sand transport smooth. Following a complaint by the complainant, a team from the town’s Bribery Prevention Department examined the demand before an arbitrator. But before accepting the bribe, the three had absconded. But as it became clear that they demanded a bribe, a case was filed against the three. The three were suspended today.
