Threshing season from 15th October

Mumbai: The decision to start this year’s sugarcane crushing season from October 15 was taken at a meeting of the Committee of Ministers chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday.

It was also decided to file a case against the executive board of the factories which will start operations before October 15. The meeting also decided that the factories should pay the FRP to the farmers immediately. The meeting also decided that guidelines should be issued to the factories which do not pay the FRP on time and in full to the farmers to decide whether to give sugarcane for sifting in the coming season or not. After the meeting was informed that 146 sugar mills have paid 100 per cent of the FRP amount to the farmers, it was decided that the mills which paid the FRP amount to the farmers in full should not leave the mills and issue mills to other mills.
