Mumbai: Eknath Shinde’s group added four new MLAs in a day. As per the provisions of the secession law, disqualification does not take place if two-thirds of the MLAs leave the party. Due to this, planning is underway to get 37 or more MLAs out of Shiv Sena. During the day, Minister Gulabrao Patil, Yogesh Kadam, two MLAs from Shiv Sena, Manjula Gavit and Chandrakant Patil, along with two independent Shinde, joined the group of MLAs in Guwahati. Further action will be taken only after the number of MLAs reaches 37. At present, efforts are underway to get more Shiv Sena MLAs to join the Shinde group. Shinde is in touch with Shiv Sena MLAs. Apart from this, efforts are being made by the BJP to have sufficient numbers. A BJP leader had taken the initiative to take two independent MLAs from Jalgaon and Dhule to Guwahati.

37 MLAs are required to prove legally that Shiv Sena Legislative Party is divided. After receiving the signatures of 37 MLAs, a letter will be handed over from Shinde to the Governor. The letter claims that a separate group was formed. The procedure will be done in the next two days, it was said. On the other hand, Shiv Sena is trying to reduce the number of MLAs with Shinde to 37.

Shinde and his MLAs had reached Surat on Monday night after the assembly elections. The MLA was in Surat all day on Tuesday. Shiv Sena secretary Milad Narvekar had reached there to meet Shinde. The MLAs were shifted to Guwahati, the capital of BJP-ruled Assam, on a special flight on Wednesday morning after realizing that it was dangerous to keep them in Surat. When there are enough MLAs, all these MLAs will be brought to Mumbai. It is planned to be taken to Goa before that.
