Washington: US Special Envoy John Kerry will visit India next week to discuss climate action and economic alignment between the two countries. Kerry will visit India from September 12 to 14 to discuss international issues related to climate change.
According to the State Department, Kerry will meet his Indian counterparts and hold talks with private sector leaders. The United States has begun to think seriously about global climate change again after the Biden administration came to power. Kerry’s visit will focus on climate action and economic alignment between the United States and India. This issue will be on the agenda of the US and India till 2030.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Modi and US President Joe Biden in April 2021. Kerry’s visit will give impetus to US bilateral and multilateral climate change action ahead of the 26th Climate Summit. The COP26 Climate Summit is taking place in Glasgow from October 31 to November 12, 2021. On August 24, Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav had a discussion with Kerry.
