Work on the bullet train project in the state is stalled

MUMBAI: Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve in a meeting with representatives of National Railway High Speed ​​Corporation, Western Railway and the state government on Wednesday said that work on land acquisition for the bullet train project in the state has stalled due to non-acquisition of land. Talking to Loksatta, Danve said that he would soon meet Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to expedite the bullet train project. He also informed about the Dedike Ted Freight Corridor project for construction of separate lanes for freight and ordered to speed up the process.

The Mumbai to Ahmedabad bullet train project will require a total of 430.37 hectares of land on Thane District, Palghar District and Mumbai Suburban Railway. So far only 129 hectares of land has been acquired.

Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve was on a two-day visit to Mumbai to learn about the problems of railway passengers and various projects. While reviewing the work of Bullet Train Project, Dedike Ted Freight Corridor of Western Railway and other projects, he came to know about the difficulties encountered in land acquisition and rehabilitation of those affected during the implementation of the project. Informing the Lok Sabha about this, Danve said that a joint meeting of Thane, Palghar, Raigad District Collector, General Manager of Western Railway and Central Railway, National Railway High Speed ​​Corporation and other concerned officials was held to understand the problems in the bullet train project.

The Minister of State for Railways also reviewed the Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad and Mumbai-Nashik-Nagpur bullet train projects.

* He took information about land acquisition, budget etc. and instructed to do this work expeditiously.

* 79.89 hectares out of 141.32 hectares in Thane district and 49.14 hectares out of 284.23 hectares in Palghar district have been acquired for Mumbai to Ahmedabad bullet train. However, none of the required 4.82 hectares of land on the Mumbai Suburban Railway has been acquired.
